STAFF
Magid Magid is a Somali-British race and climate justice activist/organiser and author who came to the UK as a refugee aged five. He was a member of the European Parliament representing Yorkshire & the Humber, Mayor of his beloved city, Sheffield and was also an elected councillor representing his community. He sits on the Board of Trustees for the think tank ‘Friends of Europe’ and is co-chair of refugee charity ‘City of Sanctuary Sheffield’.
Magid was also named one of TIME’s 100 rising stars shaping the future of the world.

Azfar Shafi is a senior researcher and a writer with a focus on race, imperialism, national security and climate. He has organised in movements against racism, state violence and for the Palestinian liberation struggle. He is also the co-author of ;Race to the Bottom: Reclaiming Antiracism’ published by Pluto Press in 2022.

Hania Chalal

From serving as the first female national president of EMF-Etudiants Musulmans de France, the french national muslim student organisation, during her studies to her professional experience in several french NGOs and at the European Level, Hania's long standing engagement towards a more inclusive and just society is renewed by joining Union of Justice. With a great expertise on community-organising and campaigns management, she deeply believes that it is in the grassroot level that we can find unlimited power for changes.
Yusuf Hassan
- Advocacy & Partnerships Lead
Yusuf Hassan is a Project management, Policy and Communications professional with a background in politics and community engagement and advocacy. Yusuf has held roles in UK Parliament and at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, otherwise known as Chatham House, one of the foremost policy institutes globally focused on Global South countries. During this time, Yusuf produced and hosted the renowned Chatham House podcast Africa Aware. Prior to this, he founded the Labour Muslim Network and led the organisation’s development into a strong institution representing Muslims in the UK Labour Party.
On a voluntary basis, Yusuf serves on the board of numerous projects based in the UK and across Europe focused on Youth engagement, mental health advocacy and political engagement.
Amber Amoo-Gottfried

Amber is a climate justice advocate and experienced coordinator of learning spaces for social change. They are passionate about the advocacy and empowerment of marginalised communities - currently working across multiple roles in the social impact sector, with a focus on climate justice, community-led action, and interdisciplinary collaboration. They believe that the climate emergency poses a non-negotiable call-to-action for us to interrogate our current systems of power and lay the foundations for a just, regenerative future.
